Oprah's Angel Network
Gregg Sherkin is a program officer for Oprah’s Angel Network. He provides expertise in program management and grant making for community development programs in the United States and southern Africa. During his time with Oprah’s Angel Network, Gregg has lead a variety of successful programs and interventions in South Africa including the provision of 20,000 school uniforms to children affected by HIV and AIDS, the creation of a mobile health unit program serving 3000 children annually in a rural and impoverished region, and the development of a new socially and environmentally sustainable school building model that is being piloted in two public schools in the provinces of Kwa-Zulu Natal and Limpopo. In addition to his work in South Africa, Gregg oversaw the development of five new residential communities along the American Gulf Coast for survivors of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Prior to joining the Angel Network, Gregg was on the production staff of The Oprah Winfrey Show. Tasked with looking for innovative ways to make the program uniquely competitive, his production team initiated and developed Oprah’s Book Club which went on to become a hallmark of The Oprah Winfrey Show. Gregg is currently enrolled in the Kellogg School of Management Executive MBA program at Northwestern University. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Washington in Political Science.
